    About Houston:

Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth most populous city in the United States, located in Southeast Texas near the Gulf of Mexico. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 2.239 million people, within a land area of 599.6 square miles (1,553 km2), it also is the largest city in the Southern United States as well as the seat of Harris County.

Houston was founded in 1836 on land near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (now known as Allen's Landing) and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The city was named after former General Sam Houston, who was president of the Republic of Texas and had commanded and won at the Battle of San Jacinto 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-twentieth century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.

Monaco is out and he was the defending champ in Houston. First round exit at the hands of Dreddy Tennis.

Some clay court specialist will take this. Hope that it is my countryman Monteiro or Argentinian Zeballos.

Monteiro and Zeballos both out now. Bellucci and Máximo Gonzales (ARG) duking it out now, and that will leave the last clay-specialist standing, so your prediction, mrzz, is looking bleak. Sorry, man. Sock and Haas are up next, which could be fun.

It's really maddening that Tennis Channel, for all of its rah-rah USA isn't showing the Houston tournament. Anyway, Sock and Haas are in a 3rd, and Chung is serving for the 1st v. F. Lopez. Can't watch it here in the US.

Good effort by my countryman Bellucci. Judging by the highlights it was a good match, and Bellucci finally felt the fifth third setter in a row. Anyway Johnson is a fine player, and Bellucci is showing signs he is improving his physical condition, which is a historical problem. Look for him to do well on Madrid in particular.
