I don't know why is that kept secret in US and some other anglophone media, but you should know that on Monday, No1e won Laureus Award for the best sportsman in the word and Serena Williams won the Award for the best sportswoman.

Classified information. If we told you we'd have to kill you. But, off the record, it's a conspiracy against Nole IMO.

You have no idea how right you were. In your attempt to make a joke you said the truth. Those murican tennis journalist idiots avoid to report on the award. of 3 main tennis media in their country, only espn mentioned it, Tennis and SI didn't. Similar is with other main media, they are largely busy with more important things like what Murray said or how a Croatian linesman no one has ever heard about was banned from tennis for a year. But the award for the biggest morons among them goes to the person from Washington Post who managed to write an article of similarity between No1e and Lance Armstrong.

I can go on and on about how they treat Novak, but instead I will just ignore US rubbish from now on.

The Laureus Award has only been given out for 17 years, and no one really knows what it is. It has no profile in the US. I'm sure it's very nice for those who get it, but you can't expect much of anyone to care if they don't know about it. I wouldn't take that as a slight against Nole. It's a slight against Laureus. If they want a higher recognition, overall, they should work for on that.

its a new global award for the 21st century (I think so anyway). it seems cool and inclusive.

Djokovic winning got a fair bit of publicity in Britain, the Wikipedia pages on awards are interesting to see btw.

stuff get voted by people from different sports from across the globe, that tennis came out winners in mens/womans player of year is a coup for tennis as a worldwide sport.

No1e had rare welcome in Madrid. I don't remember seeing a video of any other player being welcome to a big tournament like this. It is probably because he didn't play it in last 3 years and they wanted to show him how much he means to them. Here is the video:

No1e also received a legend award from the largest Spanish sports magazine. Marca Leyenda. Such an award was already given to some other tennis superstar. Funny, considering that in some other countries they give such awards to horses instead.
